Sync AOL Mail on a Third-party App Using POP or IMAP

Do you wish to have a different email interface for sending and receiving your emails? Do you wish to sync AOL Mail with a third-party email client? You are exactly in the right place. Learn how to change AOL mail settings to sync AOL mail to a third-party email app using POP or IMAP. In this article, we will help you understand the facilities each setting provides and how to configure them.

Benefits of configuring POP in AOL mail settings

Apart from regular email facilities provided by AOL mail, If you update POP settings in your AOL mail settings, you can get a copy of all the emails present in the inbox of your AOL mail account to another third-party email client where you want to access. This means two things. First, you can download the mails which are present in the inbox only (not personalized folders). Secondly, if you delete the email from the inbox of your AOL mail after it is downloaded to another app then the downloaded copy will remain in the third-party app.

In case you want to download all the emails in your third-party email client, you have to move all your emails to the inbox of AOL mail (mail.aol.com). POP settings do not show the actions performed in mail.aol.com.

Benefits of configuring IMAP in AOL mail settings

In comparison to POP settings, IMAP offers real-time syncing of mails. That means, it keeps the information (mail status) identical at both the places by syncing continuously. Any action performed in your mail.aol.com mailbox like sending or receiving of mail will automatically get reflected in the third party application and the other way round. You can also consider both the applications to be the mirror image of each other.
